Become a HeartSafe Business
Equip your businesswith an AED
An AED (automated external defibrillator) is a portable electronic device that analyzes and restores a regular heart rhythm during sudden cardiac arrest by delivering an electric shock. AEDs are designed for use by everyone. No medical background is needed. Most AEDs provide verbal step by step coaching to help trained or untrained users stay calm in an emergency and potentially save a life! Good Samaritan laws typically provide protection for untrained bystanders who respond to an emergency. AEDs are easy to use and practically maintain themselves by performing self tests and telling owners when to replace batteries and pads.
Train your staff inCPR and AED use
Regardless of the number of locations or employees to be trained, the North Dakota Safety Council’s (NDSC) training programs ensure you receive consistent, high quality training delivered the way you need it.CLASSROOM TRAINING The ideal atmosphere for learning new skills and retaining them with hands-on practice. ONLINE TRAINING Including an in-person skills check. Every student who completes the CPR/AED course through the NDSC receives a First Aid Quick Guide for fast and easy reference during 50+ emergencies along with a CPR keychain- a pair of gloves and disposable breathing barrier.
Report your AED
The final step in becoming recognized as a HeartSafe business is reporting your AED. Your city’s 911 dispatch will keep record of all the functioning, reported AEDs in the community. When a bystander calls 911, dispatchers will use a map of all reported AEDs to tell the bystander where the closest AED is located, so he or she can immediately help the person experiencing cardiac arrest.Click below to complete a short form so your business can receive HEARTSAFE designation.
